All Saints & Sinners Colonial Bed and Breakfast, historically known as Rockhampton Home/House, derives the current name from a local history book. The book states that in the mid 1800s this end of town, located between St Matthews Church and the hotels, was referred to as the saints and sinners end of town.
The existing building was erected in three stages.
The first, pre 1833, operated as an Inn and is constructed from double handmade convict brick covered with plaster and lath. In 1850 the Catholic Church purchased the property for use as a chapel and presbytery until 1887 when construction of the current church was complete. Currently the dining room and retains the original 14' 6" ceilings, Georgian ceiling rose, massive cornices, skirting boards and blackwood floorboards.
Circa 1855 the second stage was added. Again constructed of double handmade convict brick. This is currently the guest’s lounge and kitchen area.
1895 to 1900 saw the two-storey accommodation section and front verandah added. A timber frame coated in plaster and lath both inside and out.
In 1999 the old house was refurbished for use as a bed and breakfast. Walls were removed from small single bedrooms to create larger rooms. The original staircase remains as do the skirting boards and panel doors.
